SHARON KIM

YOUR SKUAD LEADER

Sharon is a DC-based fitness coach passionate about using movement as medicine for her community and clients. The SKuad was born serendipitously as a community open and accepting of all. SKuad mentality consists of hard work, a lot of sweat, understanding that rest is part of the process, and the belief that taking care of one’s mental health is just as vital as the physical. Her training approach balances grit and recovery with emphasis on empathy, understanding, authenticity, and personal care.

Sharon is a first-generation Korean-American born and raised in Northern Virginia. Field hockey and lacrosse were her main focuses in school, but she has always been a lifelong athlete and active since childhood. She graduated from the University of South Carolina Honors College with a Bachelor of Science double-major in Finance and Risk Management. From there, she was a cog in the Corporate America machine for five years, working in online stock brokerage and bank risk.

Sharon’s coaching journey started back in 2016 when she discovered boxing during a dark time in her life and fell in love with how it humbled and empowered her at the same time. In 2018, she made the leap and left her corporate career to pursue fitness full-time, eager to share her passion for boxing with anyone who would listen. She earned her personal training certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and started taking on clients. From there, she continued to build her client base as a personal trainer at Equinox Sports Club DC before temporarily relocating to New York in 2019 for Rumble (pre-franchise). In April 2019, she, along with her founding team, opened Rumble DC and were able to present a new concept to their city, quickly establishing themselves as prominent players in DC’s fitness community.

Currently, she runs her own private training business and teaches group boxing classes around The District at Rumble and Equinox Anthem Row. When she is not working, she trains out of the esteemed Headbangers Boxing Gym, continually staying a student of the sport, refining her craft and staying ready for the next match.
